“The Cornwall Cricket Groundsmans Association have recently completed a programme of aerating thirty Cricket Squares throughout the County, for this exercise we have used the Toro 648 Procore Aerator, probably the best machine available, allowing us, in not the best weather conditions, to aerate squares with the minimum of surface disturbance. We were made able to carry out this exercise through the generosity of Hawkins Motors who kindly loaned us a four wheel drive vehicle to transport both the Aerator and it’s trailer.
This is the fourth year that the CACG have carried out winter aeration and we hope that many more Clubs will, in future, take advantage of this vital aspect of groundsmanship”.
With most club’s having AGMs in the upcoming weeks, now is the ideal time to think about projects that would help develop club facilities to help maintain and increase player participation.
Having good non-turf net facilities for evening practice or having a non-turf pitch to alleviate pressure on the square will both enable more junior and 3rd/4th XI cricket to be played without drastically adding to the grounds team’s workloads, and will help the club retain existing members and attract new.
Notts Sport are the industry leaders in the provision of non-turf facilities, with more ECB Approved pitch systems than any other supplier, and more than 30 years proven track record of supplying the highest standard, lowest maintenance artificial pitch systems in the UK.
Our experience and assistance will enable us to work with you to design your ideal pitch systems, guide you through grant aid options and planning requirements, and to ultimately construct a pitch or net system that will stand the test of time.
If you are planning a non-turf pitch or practice area, we would be delighted to offer a site visit (at no cost or commitment to the club) in order to either help the club develop existing plans, or to produce an initial design proposal and cost document that can be used as the basis for planning or grant funding applications.
