Welcome to Cricket in Cornwall

This website is in the transition of being moved to a new format which explains the lack of recent updates for technical reasons. Please bear with us while the changes take effect. The end result will be a mobile friendly site for tablets and smartphones. Once in place the Youth Honours Board will be set up again.

Dorset 161-9, Cornwall 124    card

Cornwall’s hopes of making the knock out stages  in the Unicorns Trophy suffered a blow yesterday with a 37 run defeat against Dorset at Grampound Road.

Dorset were restricted to 161 for 9 in their 50 overs with 16 year old spinner Lewis Goldsworthy almost taking a hat trick in his 3 for 21 off 10 overs.

Cornwall then lost their first 5 wickets for 49 runs.

Paul Smith made 42 and debutant Mark Gribble 33 before the innings fell away to 124 all out with 14 overs remaining.

Cornwall now have to beat both Berkshire and Devon in their remaining games to stand any chance of qualifying as runners up on net run rate.

Elsewhere yesterday Roche won their National Village Cup tie in Devon against Thorverton by 52 runs and in the Cornwall Women’s League Redruth beat Penzance, Launceston won at Falmouth and Grampound Road defeated Truro.

The weather all but wiped out  the leading games in the LWC Drinks Cornwall Cricket League on Saturday. Of 65 games in all 47 were cancelled and 3 conceded. 15 were played, all in the east.

All four games in the penultimate round of the Premier 40/40 Cup were cancelled.

Not a ball was bowled at  Grampound Road, Redruth, Penzance or St Just.

Only one game was able to be played in County Division 1 where Lanhydrock made 180 at Werrington  in a game reduced to 45 overs.

Werrington seconds won by six wickets but with just two balls to spare.
